The tGW-715i-T CR is a compact Modbus gateway that lets a Modbus TCP or UDP host communicate with serial Modbus RTU or ASCII devices across an Ethernet network. Moving the serial segment onto Ethernet removes the cable length limits of legacy serial links, which suits retrofits and distributed SCADA or HMI architectures.
The gateway can also be configured as a serial bridge or tunnel, routing data over TCP/IP between two serial Modbus RTU/ASCII devices. This is useful where the connected equipment has no Ethernet capability of its own. A read-cache stores previous requests and responses, so repeated queries from several masters to the same slave are answered immediately, which reduces traffic on the RS-485 bus.
Configuration is handled through the built-in web server over HTTP, with static IP or DHCP addressing and UDP Search for device discovery. Automatic RS-485 direction control and a terminal block connector simplify wiring. The unit draws 0.07 A at 24 VDC and mounts on DIN-rail in a plastic housing.
