The iP-8447 CR is a 4-slot programmable automation controller that runs embedded ISaGRAF Ver.3 SoftLogic, programmed to IEC 61131-3, on an 80186 80 MHz CPU under MiniOS7. It suits engineers who want a PLC-style controller that can host high-performance parallel I/O (I-8K) or serial I/O (I-87K) modules directly in its hot-swap slots, or reach remote I/O over RS-485.
Connectivity is built around dual 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet ports and four serial ports (two RS-232, one RS-485 with 3000 VDC isolation, and one switchable RS-232/RS-485). The controller supports a broad protocol set, including Modbus TCP/IP Slave, Modbus RTU/ASCII Master, DCON, UDP, TCP Client, CAN/CANopen and FTP Client. Data is held in 512 KB of battery-backed SRAM, and each unit carries a 64-bit hardware serial number.
Note that ISaGRAF cannot run on 64-bit Windows 7 or 8 PCs. Where a 64-bit Windows 7 or 8 workstation is in use, Win-GRAF is the appropriate programming environment.
