The VXC-114U/D2 CR is a universal PCI serial communication board that adds four RS-232 ports to a PC. It suits engineers who need to connect several serial devices, such as bar code readers, serial printers, intelligent sensors and instrumentation, to a single host without fitting a separate serial adapter for each port.
Each port has a 128-byte hardware FIFO and supports speeds from 50 to 115200 bps, with full-duplex communication. Under Windows, the driver provides a software buffer of up to 128 KB per COM port, which helps with large file transfers. The COM port number can be set manually using the built-in 8-bit DIP switch, or the driver can assign an available number automatically.
This variant is supplied with a CA-9-3715D cable rather than the CA-4002 connector included with the VXC-114U CR. The board uses a DB-37 female connector, is a short card design and supports the 3.3 V/5 V PCI bus.
