The VXC-112AU CR is a short-card universal PCI board that adds two RS-232 serial ports to a host PC. It suits engineers who need dedicated serial connections for bar code readers, serial printers, intelligent sensors and instrumentation that communicate over RS-232.
Each port has a 128-byte hardware FIFO and supports full-duplex communication at up to 115200 bps. The card works with both 3.3 V and 5 V PCI bus signalling. COM port numbers can be set manually using the built-in 8-bit DIP switch COM-Selector, or the driver can assign an available number automatically. Under Windows, the driver provides up to 128 KB of software buffer per COM port, which helps with large file transfers.
Each port's data lines are standard RS-232 with no isolation on this variant. For isolated and ESD-protected data lines, the i versions of the VXC-112 series, such as the VXC-112iAU, should be considered. The board is rated for 0 ~ +60°C operation and is CE, UKCA, FCC, RoHS and WEEE listed.
