The PIO-D56U CR is a PCI digital I/O board for engineers who need many TTL-level signals in a host PC. It fits universal 3.3 V/5 V PCI slots and provides 56 buffered TTL digital I/O lines organised as three 8-bit bi-directional programmable ports. All ports power up as inputs, which keeps the card in a known state after reset.
The board emulates two industrial-standard 8255 PPI ports in Mode 0, so existing 8255-style software routines can be reused. A 4-channel interrupt source supports event-driven designs, and the 4-bit Card ID switch lets software tell cards apart when two or more boards are installed in one computer. Digital output status can be read back at register level, and the I/O response time is approximately 1 μs (1 MHz).
Software support covers DOS, Windows and Linux, with a DLL and OCX SDK, sample programs in several C, C++ and Visual Basic languages, a LabVIEW toolkit for Windows and a Linux driver with DasyLab support. The card is listed with CE, UKCA, FCC, RoHS and WEEE certifications.
