The PEX-CPM100-D is an active CANopen master card for PCI Express systems, providing a single CAN channel. An NXP SJA1000T controller and 82C250 transceiver handle bus arbitration, error detection with automatic correction and retransmission. A 16-bit microcontroller running the MiniOS7 real-time operating system manages message transmission, reception, filtering and storage, so the card can keep up with CAN traffic even on a PCI bus under heavy load.
Because the CANopen master logic runs in the card's own firmware, time-critical network tasks do not depend on the host PC. Application developers can use the CANopen library on the host, with data exchanged with the firmware through memory mapping while the card is active.
The board also works with the CANopen Motion Library, which follows the CiA-402 specification and covers position, velocity and torque control as well as synchronised control. Refer to the manufacturer's CANopen Motion Library documentation for details.
