The I-7567 CR links a Windows PC to HART field devices over USB. It can act as a HART master, so the PC reaches slave devices through a virtual COM port, or as a HART slave when paired with the HDS simulation software. Engineers can therefore build and test HART data collection without first installing field instruments.
The converter supports HART short and long frames as well as Burst mode. It handles point-to-point or multi-drop wiring with up to 15 HART slave devices and allows two HART masters. A bundled utility handles module configuration and HART communication tests, and firmware can be updated over USB.
Power comes entirely from the USB port, so no separate supply is needed. The unit provides 3000 VDC isolation and 4 kV ESD protection, and the 250 Ω terminal resistor can be switched in as required. Support for the FDT standard enables online HART configuration systems.
