The I-7522 CR lets RS-232 devices take part in an RS-485 network by giving each one its own address. Commands addressed to a device are received over RS-485, the address is stripped, and the remaining command is passed to the local serial device. Responses are returned over the same RS-485 link, so a single bus can reach several serial instruments.
The unit combines two serial interfaces with onboard I/O. It provides one RS-232 port, one isolated RS-485 port and one combined RS-232/RS-485 port on a DB-9 male connector, with a maximum baud rate of 115200 bps. Two non-isolated dry-contact digital inputs and one open-collector digital output (+30 VDC, 100 mA load) can be monitored and controlled in real time.
Support for Dual-Watchdog commands, a programmable power-up value and safe value for the digital output, and a 1 KB queue buffer on each RS-232 interface help keep field communication predictable. The blue-cover version is supplied with the CE, FCC, RoHS and WEEE markings listed in the source data, and it mounts on DIN-rail or by wall mounting.
