The I-7188EX-MTCP is a palm-sized programmable device server that connects RS-232 and RS-485 serial devices to an Ethernet network. It also acts as a Modbus TCP to RTU gateway, so SCADA and HMI software that speaks Modbus TCP can reach serial field devices without custom drivers.
Engineers can extend the unit with the included C language development toolkit, which provides XServer and Modbus libraries, running on the MiniOS7 operating system. The ordering code I-7188EX-MTCP CR is the blue-cover version of this gateway.
Hardware features include an 80188-40 CPU, 512 KB flash and 512 KB SRAM, a real-time clock, a watchdog timer and a 64-bit hardware serial number. An I/O expansion bus accepts one X-board for added analogue or digital I/O or serial ports.
