I-7188E5 CR links one RS-232/485 serial device or several at once to an Ethernet network. Serial data can be carried over Virtual COM or raw TCP connections, so existing serial software and devices can be networked without changing their communication protocol.
The unit has four RS-232 ports and one RS-485 port on a removable terminal block, which simplifies wiring in industrial cabinets. A built-in MiniOS7 and the Xserver programming structure allow custom Ethernet applications to be developed on the device. A watchdog timer is included for use in harsh environments.
Windows users can install the VxComm driver, available for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 SP1, 10, 2012 and 2016, to map the built-in serial ports to standard COM ports on the host computer.
