The GW-7472 CR links EtherNet/IP, Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP networks, so an EtherNet/IP scanner can exchange register data with Modbus RTU slaves and Modbus TCP servers through one device. Register values read from the Modbus side are presented as input data to the scanner, and output data from the scanner is written back to the Modbus registers.
The Modbus RTU master port supports 2-wire RS-485 and 4-wire RS-422. The Ethernet port provides IEEE 802.3af Class 1 Power over Ethernet, and a DC adapter can serve as an alternative supply. The two power inputs are redundant, so if one fails the other takes over.
The compact housing suits installations where space is limited, such as mounting close to a serial device or within a machine. The unit is designed for DIN-rail installation and includes a removable terminal block connector.
