The PCIe-S142i CR adds two serial ports to a PCI Express x1 slot, giving engineers a practical way to connect multiple RS-422 or RS-485 devices to an industrial PC. Each port can be set to RS-485 for half-duplex or RS-422 for full-duplex operation, and RS-485 direction is switched automatically.
The i version isolates the data lines of each port using photocouplers rated at 3000 VDC, which helps reduce ground loops and common-mode voltage problems and protects the host computer from over-voltage faults on the field side. On-board ESD protection rated at ±4 kV further guards sensitive circuitry against electrostatic discharge.
- Two DB9 male connectors, with pinouts for RS-422 and RS-485 signalling
- 256-byte hardware FIFO on each port, with baud rates from 300 to 921600 bps
- Drivers provided for Windows and Linux
